Questions people ask
If your question is not here, ring us and ask. There is no charge for a question.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly. A GP referral is only needed if you want to claim a Medicare rebate under a care plan, or if your funding requires one.
How long is a visit?
The first visit is 60 minutes, because it includes a full assessment. Follow up visits are 45 minutes.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, and shoes you normally walk in. Nothing special is needed.
How much space do you need?
Very little. Enough room to walk a few steps, and a chair and a bed we can use. We work around your home as it is.
Do you offer hydrotherapy?
Yes. Where working in water suits you better than working on land, we can run the appointment in your own pool, or at your local public pool. Public pools set their own rules about outside practitioners, so we check that before booking.
Do you bring equipment?
Yes. We bring everything needed for the assessment and the treatment, so there is nothing for you to buy or set up beforehand.
The one exception is strength work that needs gym machines or free weights. If building capacity that way is part of your plan and you are a member of a local gym, we can meet you there and run the session in the gym instead, where the gym allows it.
Can family or a support worker be there?
Yes, and it often helps. If someone else supports you day to day, having them there means they hear the plan and can help you follow it.
What areas do you cover?
The whole Gold Coast. We are based in Benowa, in the centre, and travel out from there. Travel cost depends on distance and is confirmed before the visit.
Do you see children?
No. We work with adults only.
What if physiotherapy is not the right thing for me?
We will tell you. If the problem sits better with a GP, a specialist medical practitioner or another clinician, we will say so and help point you in the right direction.
